The Stevenson Mustangs (14-5, 3-3 MACC) dropped both games of a conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon, falling to undefeated Messiah (14-6, 6-0 MACC) in Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth action.

Game 1 – Messiah 14, Stevenson 5 (5 innings)

Despite getting on the board first, Stevenson couldn’t hold off Messiah’s explosive offense in the opener. Rebecca Maiorano gave the Mustangs an early lead in the top of the first, scoring on an RBI single from Ava Stafursky.

That momentum was short-lived, as the Falcons erupted for seven runs in the bottom half of the inning and followed up with five more in the second, racing out to a commanding 12-1 lead. Messiah added two more runs in the third to stretch the margin to 14-1.

Stevenson continued to battle, tacking on a run in the fourth when Danielle Mills delivered a single up the middle to bring home Rebecca Henry. The Mustangs pushed across three more in the fifth, highlighted by an RBI double from Maiorano that plated McKenzie Tobler. Henry later added a two-run single, scoring Maria Morsa and Teagan Kreshik, but the game ended after five innings via the run rule.

Tobler, Maiorano, and Henry each collected two hits for Stevenson in the opener, while Stafursky, Mills, and Sahara Ward also chipped in with hits.

Starter Angelica Gurevich (4-1) was charged with the loss, allowing four earned runs and walking three in just two-thirds of an inning.

Game 2 – Messiah 8, Stevenson 0 (5 innings)

The nightcap proved even tougher for the Mustangs, as Messiah once again dominated from the outset. Stevenson struggled to generate offense, managing only three hits in the game—two from Tobler and one from Tessa Boswell.

On the mound, Alexis Kirkessner (5-3) worked four innings, allowing multiple runs while walking two and striking out two. The Falcons closed the game in five innings, completing the sweep with an 8-0 shutout victory.

Stevenson will look to bounce back on Wednesday when they travel to face Susquehanna in a non-conference matchup.
