Abby: How did you discover your passion for fashion?
Hannah: Ever since I was little, I’ve really enjoyed dressing up and going shopping. In high school, I had the opportunity to be involved in a fashion program at the Career and Technology Center. I was able to design a total of 16 outfits, showcasing them in a fashion show towards the end of the year. Throughout that process, I realized I enjoyed fashion design, but for a career, I really wanted to branch into the business side of fashion. I definitely have a passion for fashion and love to crochet, create stylish accessories, and style different outfits. I go on Pinterest multiple times a day to gain inspiration, and it is a huge hobby of mine.
Abby: What does fashion mean to you?
Hannah: I love that I’m able to express my creativity and my personality through what I wear. Fashion is a great form of non-verbal communication. I love how fashion can bring people together through different trends and styles.
Abby: How would you describe your style?
Hannah: My style is kind of all over the place. I enjoy dressing up while remaining put-together and comfortable. I love a basic pair of jeans and cute sweaters. I used to love a lot of color, but now I’m getting into more neutral staple colors. Currently, I’ve decided that being comfortable is most important, leading me to find chic yet effortless pieces that create a clean look and can be worn to class.
Abby: What inspires your aesthetic? Is there a particular source you get inspiration from?
Hannah: Recently, I really enjoyed this fashion brand called Djerf Avenue. The owner, Matilda, has amazing style. I’ve started to imitate some of her outfit ideas. I love how she can look put-together but also effortless at the same time.
Abby: What are your favorite brands?
Hannah: Recently, I’ve really liked Brandy Melville. I love their pieces, and they’re relatively cheap while remaining of good quality. Brandy offers really great basic pieces. I’ve started to incorporate a bunch of those pieces into my wardrobe for comfortable everyday wear. I also love Free People and Urban Outfitters.
Abby: Tell me a little bit more about your crocheting hobby.
Hannah: Two summers ago, I started to learn how to crochet. After watching a few YouTube tutorials and practicing, I got more experienced. I recently made a crochet skirt but have also made bags, shrugs, shirts, and cute accessories. I am excited to keep crocheting and am always looking for new patterns to follow.
