“The transition from high school to college life was kind of challenging for me, because now I have to worry about balancing a job, getting a future internship and handling finances. While in high school, I didn’t have to worry about that stuff. Over the last semester and a half that I have been here, Stevenson has been a very enjoyable experience for me. I have been able to meet a bunch of new friends, play a collegiate sport and have the opportunity to pursue a career in which I can help a lot of people. For me, the most challenging part of transitioning was time management and managing to fit my baseball practice, school work and social life all into one schedule.

“I look forward to diving deeper into my environmental science major and making more memories with the people around me. Some of my favorite memories include getting National Pitcher of the Week multiple times, going out and playing volleyball the week when all the first-year students came to campus and meeting my girlfriend.

“My plans for after Stevenson are to explore life as an adult, such as traveling, going to concerts and spending time with my family as much as I can. I also want to knock some things off my bucket list. One of them, for example, is to see a playoff game for any team, because from what I see on TV, they look super electric and I would love to be a part of that crowd. I see my future self living in Ocean City, MD, or somewhere in Fenwick, Delaware. These are my ideal places because I have been going there since I was about ten years old, and mainly because they are near a beach, which is basically my one and only requirement. Every time I go there, the food and atmosphere never cease to amaze me, which is why my future self would absolutely love to be down there.

“I also see my future self having a job as a park ranger or any job that requires me to travel and be in nice weather. I want to be an environmental scientist or park ranger because I want to protect and conserve what was created 4.5 billion years ago. It has also been my dream to make a severe impact on the world I live in, and I think this is how I can make my impact. I also want these jobs to inspire future STEM majors who want to pursue a career in environmental science.

“One thing I hope to continue after Stevenson is my passion for baseball. By doing this, I will either find a local travel baseball team or little league and coach them as a side job. My current job over the summer is as a camp counselor for this sports camp, and my job there is to coach and help elementary and middle school students play baseball. So, with this, I would love to help and inspire kids to play baseball and be able to say that I can officially coach my own team. Some goals for myself after I graduate are to live my life as an official adult and find a job that I can be happy with. For my long-term goals, I hope to further advance in my career in environmental science and live up to my other goals, such as inspiring other people to have a career in STEM or environmental science. To achieve these goals, I plan to find a valuable and helpful internship throughout college to give me the experience for the career field I want to pursue. I will also stay connected with some professors here at Stevenson University because they can help me with these opportunities, and I can potentially help them with their studies and research, which sounds like a lot of fun to me.”
