Presidential historian and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jon Meacham will speak to subscribers of the Baltimore Speakers Series on Oct. 24 at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore. Before that engagement, however, Meacham will speak with the students, faculty and staff at Stevenson at noon the same day in the St. Paul Companies Pavilion on the Greenspring campus. All are invited to the presentation.
Meachem is well-known for his #1 New York Times bestseller, “Destiny and Power: The American Odyssey of George Herbert Walker Bush,” as well as his biographies of Andrew Jackson and Thomas Jefferson. His familiarity with politics, religion, and current affairs makes him a well-regarded speaker and social critic.
Meachem served as the former editor-in-chief of Newsweek, wrote for Time magazine, and is now the executive editor at Random House, an American publishing house and the largest general-interest paperback publisher in the world, according to penguinrandomhouse.com.
Stevenson University is a sponsor of the 2017-2018 Baltimore Speakers Series. The series presents seven yearly speakers who address a variety of topics and opinions. This year, the series has already hosted David Cameron, the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom; and joining Meachem in the series will be journalist Jane Pauley (Nov. 14); reporter Robin Wright (Jan. 30); travel guide Rick Steves (Feb. 27); astronaut Mark Kelly and former congresswoman Gabby Giffords (March 27); and photographer Paul Nicklen (April 17).
