Over the last several years MAP, Mustang Activities and Programming, has sponsored many student activities at Stevenson, and the student group is planning to continue to do so this semester.

Already, events are planned through April, with many guest speakers, musicians and at least four student trips, according to MAP advisor Jenna D’Onza.

The next MAP event is the Ghostbusters PJ Party on Feb. 9, held in the Rockland banquet room. Maya Murphy, sophomore program director, is looking forward to this event more than movie nights in the past, because she programmed it. This is Murphy’s first movie night as program director, but has organized other events during her MAP career.

For students who are interested in arts and crafts, MAP is hosting Pinterest Jams on Feb. 11, also being held in Rockland. Here, students can make dreamcatchers and DIY phone speakers while listening to musical guest Mikki Hommel. This event is open to all students.

For a capella enthusiasts, or for those just looking for something to do this Valentine’s Day, there will be an A Capella Fest on Feb. 14, courtesy of MAP. Audience members will get to enjoy Stevenson’s BSU Gospel Choir and All Natural Glee club in addition to guest performance group Kazual. Kazual has performed on America’s Got Talent and has been opening acts for Destiny’s Child and Nelly. This event is being held in Rockland and is open to all Stevenson students.

The first student trip of the spring semester is to an ice rink on Feb. 17. A bus will leave Rockland at 8 p.m. but check-in is 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at The Rock now and will be required for admittance. This trip is a personal favorite for D’Onza, who loves planning student trips.

“I’m looking forward to all of our trips this semester. I like planning opportunities for our students to get off campus, and the trips are usually really fun too!” said D’Onza, who also mentioned a “mystery trip” that will take place on April 29. This trip is the first of its kind, in which students will have to trust MAP to take them on an unknown adventure.

There will also be the Second Annual Food Truck Rally held towards the end of the spring semester. All information about tickets, times and locations can be found on the Stevenson MAP website.
