After coaching a successful women’s soccer program for 10 years, Graeme Millar was promoted to the men’s side at Stevenson University. Millar has posted a record of 118-72-23 (.603) over his seasons with the women’s program, making him the winningest coach in program history. He hopes to carry this over to the men.

Coaching at Stevenson for such a long time, Millar said he knows Stevenson “inside and out.” He has watched and followed the men’s program  for a decade and knows this team better than anyone else. He knows the change that they need, and wants to start over by building this team from the inside out. He has high expectations and will rely on the team’s leadership coming from captains Eric Dorsey and D.R. Medtart.

The team has also ‘bought in’ to Millar as the new coach, and they are excited about it.

“This team has been very accepting of Graeme as the new coach. I feel a strong team bond this year more than others,” said Dorsey.

Every coach has a general  goal of winning the conference and playing in the NCAA tournament, but Millar has his own goal as a coach: “My goal to the team is to provide a leader with success on and off the field,” he said.

The Mustangs are already off to a better start by winning their home opener against Washington College, 2-1. “Their work rate is incredible, and they are playing for the jersey,” said Millar.  After a tough weekend of back-to-back games against competitive teams, the Mustangs fell to Gettysburg College 3-2 and tied York College 0-0 in double overtime.

“In the end, we came home with a loss and a tie, but behind those results are two good performances that we as a team can grow from,” said Dorsey.

The Mustangs’ next home game is  Sept. 20 against Salisbury University.

Millar is excited for this new chapter as the men’s coach. He is already making the necessary changes and setting the bar high, hoping to bring success to the men’s  program.
