New sandwich bakery comes to Owings Mills

Calling all sandwich lovers! Bon Fresco, a well-known bakery café based in Maryland, has opened a new location down the hill from Stevenson University. This newest addition to the off-campus dining locations on Owings Mills Boulevard includes a sandwich and bakery shop.

The name Bon Fresco is a combination of the French word for “good” and the Italian for “fresh.” Known for its fresh-baked bread, the small café-style bakery is the newest craving in Boulevard Circle. From sandwiches to salads and soups, Bon Fresco offers a wide variety of choices at an affordable price.

Started by Gerald Koh in 2009, Bon Fresco has been serving up fresh-baked bread for a wide range of customers of all ages since then. The prices range from $7 to $10 for a combo that includes chips and a drink. Bon Fresco also offers personal catering service for events.

A visit to Bon Fresco makes it clear that the company takes pride in its work. This includes baking its signature Ciabatta bread, a process that takes 30 hours from start to finish, and serving it up fresh out of the oven daily, according to the company’s website.

For vegans and vegetarians, a good selection is available. Options include a hummus sandwich, as well as Picante Fresco, which is grilled zucchini, pepper jack cheese, artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, on a ciabatta bun and oven-warmed. A kids’ menu includes grilled cheese.

Lunch sandwiches are unique, including a chicken curry with peppers and raisins on ciabatta, or a brie baguette with caramelized onions and pesto. Guests can also choose from classics like ham and cheese or hummus with red peppers and artichoke, served on freshly baked focaccia. The menu is full of variety and uniqueness.

A build-your-own salad bar offers a wide range of vegetable and protein choices in addition to many standard salad offerings. House-made soups change daily, depending on location and season,

The shop also offers breakfast with several tasty options including a steak and egg sandwich or a turkey sausage egg and cheese, and assorted breakfast muffins. Fresh croissants and baguettes make each sandwich different and delicious.

Bon Fresco is located right next to the new IHOP and the Dunkin’ Donuts. This marks the fourth location in Maryland including stores in Beltsville, Columbia, and Annapolis Junction. Starting in the fall, Flex dollars will be honored there.
