Players become heroes in popular game

Of the thousands of video games on the market, few remain relevant months after their release. “Overwatch” is an exception.

“Overwatch” is a one-of-a-kind, first-person shooter game that emphasizes the importance of teamwork. The game was released on May 24, 2016, and has shown no signs of decelerating. Blizzard Entertainment is the developer behind the game’s success, but it is no stranger to creating popular franchises. Blizzard is widely known for its mega hits like “World of Warcraft,” “Hearthstone,” “Diablo,” and more.

“Overwatch” features a variety of heroes with their own interesting attributes that have drawn in millions of players. The heroes’ mission is to restore peace to the world under the guise of “Overwatch.” Just recently, Orisa was released as the 24th playable hero. Orisa is a mechanical tank created by child genius Efi Oladele to instill peace.

There are four roles for the heroes of in the game: offense, defense, tank, and support. With these roles, there is a character to suit everyone’s playstyle. All of the heroes come from different parts of the world with their own rousing stories.

Some of the heroes include Ana and Pharah from Egypt, who are mother and daughter; Lucio, a Brazilian DJ and recording artist; D.Va, a 19-year-old Korean professional gamer and star who fights by piloting a mechanical drone; and Mei, a Chinese climatologist who was working in Antarctica. There is even an overly intelligent gorilla named Winston who is responsible for reassembling the Overwatch team.

There is a hero in “Overwatch” for every player to enjoy and relate to. The captivating game is reaching and resonating with millions of people, specifically, hitting a milestone recently of 25 million players. “Overwatch” has been out for almost a year and is still achieving acclaim and accolades from all over the world.

The Blizzard team has created something extraordinary. “Overwatch” has been a favorite of many since its release, and the hype does not appear to be slowing down any time soon. From the team-based challenges to the creative stories, this game is superb. “Overwatch” is available for PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One.
