Stay productive over spring break

Spring break is nearly here! Before you mentally clock out from school for a week, here are a few things you can do to stay productive over the break.

Before you go on that trip you planned, it’s important to get organized and throw things away that you don’t need. One of the worst feelings is to come back to a disorganized room or apartment or start back to school with added stress because of your environment. According to researchers, clutter elevates stress level hormones. If you are going on a trip for spring break, you will enjoy coming back to a clean home. Do some spring cleaning and throw out that hair product you told yourself you were going to use two years ago!


During spring break, it’s nice to catch up with friends, but it’s also important to have some time for yourself too. Take a day for one of your favorite hobbies and show yourself some self-love. As college students, we often neglect our own mental health for the sake of making perfect grades. Make sure to take this time to de-stress.


It’s time to organize and revamp your resume. Maybe it’s time for a new template or maybe you’ve gained more experience at a job. Whatever it is, it’s time to make some improvements.

Revise your resume, update LinkedIn and make sure you have relevant and appropriate content on all of your social media platforms.

Do you have some errands that you’ve been meaning to run? Do you have work that is due as soon as you get back? On one of the first two days of spring break, go ahead and knock off things on your to-do list. This way, you can truly enjoy your break without having to worry about the work that needs to be done when it gets closer to classes resuming.


You may have had a rough start to the semester, but the worst thing you can do is sit around and mope. Catch up on a Netflix series, hang out around loved ones or have a meal at one of your favorite restaurants. Don’t waste the break sitting around wishing your life would be better. Remember, everything is temporary, and you will see the sunshine soon.
