FROM THE INTERIM VICE PRESIDENT, STUDENT AFFAIRS
I hope this message finds you doing well. As I’ve done in the past, I’m writing to tell you about resources available to you as you prepare for your final exams. Also included are suggestions for taking care of yourself, both mentally and physically, and for keeping stress to a minimum. Please take a few minutes to read them below to help you to be successful. Be extra respectful of your fellow students and residents at this time as sleep and study are so important. ~Jeff Kelly

Commit to Integrity
As finals approach, stress levels rise with multiple assignments and exams due within a short period of time. We encourage you, during this time, to remain committed to the six values of academic integrity: honesty, trust, fairness, respect, responsibility, and courage. Be on the lookout during finals week for a special give-away from the Office of Academic Integrity and members of our Student Academic Integrity Committee. Their treat to you will serve as a timely reminder of those values!
Healthy Snacks
Snacking is great to help you feel more energetic and it gives your brain the power to retain the study material in the late night hours. Most individuals need to eat something every 4 hours to keep their blood sugar levels steady. Try these food items: apples, bananas, carrot sticks and hummus, celery, natural peanut butter, mixed nuts, dried cranberries, raisins, string cheese or low fat popcorn with grated Parmesan cheese on top. Fresh fruit will be available at several locations on all campuses throughout exam week to help with healthy eating.
Stress Events before finals
o De-stress with paint, draw or color stop by the Caves Desk in the Caves Building on the Owings Mills campus and ask a Peer Educator for the portable craft box to sign out anytime between 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., M-F from May 1 to May 12. Please return craft kit within 24-hours.
o Relax all your worries away through Meditation Sessions. May 2 and 9 from 7 to 7:20 p.m. in the Wooded Way Community space on the Owings Mills campus, a Peer Educator will provide guided meditation sessions.
o Stretch the tension out of those muscles with a session of Yoga. May 3 and 10 from 11 a.m to noon in the Menning Meditation Center on the Greenspring campus and May 4 and May 11 in the Wooded Way community space on the Owings Mills Campus from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a yoga instructor.
