KNOW YOUR WORTH

Stevenson University will celebrate Woman’s History Month with Student Activities and WORTH

“You are loved.”

“Celebrate your wins!”

“Be your biggest supporter.”

Stevenson University students walking around Rockland Hall on Friday afternoon were greeted by positive affirmations written on sticky notes by their fellow students. It was all part of a Women’s History Month event hosted and sponsored by Women of Resilience Tenacity and Humility, an SU club.

“WORTH is a women empowerment organization on campus,” said Amani White, a freshman representative of student activities at Stevenson. “Student activities oversees most of the activities this month, and we have a bunch of different events coming up.”

WORTH held an affirmation activity on March 3 at Rockland from 3 to 5 p.m. Students and faculty wrote affirmations on sticky notes for passing students to read.

“We were trying to bring awareness to affirmations because I think they have a really big impact on people’s confidence and overall well-being,” White said. “I knew that WORTH was a club on campus with the same goals of reminding people of their worth, so we had a meeting and were quickly able to plan the event.”

Stevenson University is dedicated to celebrating Women’s History Month and recognizes the importance of honoring and highlighting the achievements and contributions of women throughout history.

As part of the celebrations, the university has planned several events to celebrate and empower women. Fliers of the events are found on the Stevenson Weekly Scoop website.

The Annual Weekend of Women Brunch & Awards is one of the highlight events of Stevenson’s Women’s History Month celebration. The event was hosted on Sunday, March 5, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Rockland banquet room. The brunch was catered by Terri’s Cafe, and attendees had the opportunity to network and connect with other like-minded individuals. The award ceremony was also held at the brunch, recognizing the outstanding achievements of women in the community.

Looking forward, on Wednesday, March 8, to celebrate International Women’s Day, the Center of Diversity and Inclusion and Student Activities will be hosting a Me-Time Mug giveaway. Students can visit Ratcliffe from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. to pick up a Me-Time Mug, which can be used to experience the spa from the comfort of their homes. This event is an excellent opportunity for participants to relax and take a moment to unwind.

Another event to look forward to is the Sister-to-Sister session on March 22. Hosted by Stevenson Club & Organizations, this special edition of Sister to Sister will be focused on mental health. The session will provide a platform for women to discuss inner battles, relationships, and coping mechanisms they may use. It will be a chance for women to bond and connect through shared experiences and meaningful conversations. The event is open to all Stevenson women and will be held in Caves room 249 from 6 to 7 p.m.

“Women’s history month is a reminder of what women are capable of even though we’ve always been doubted,” said senior Melly Monroe, a member of WORTH. “It’s important that we take care of ourselves so we can extend our love to others. Teaching women to pursue their purpose and personal dreams and always be willing to reach out to others in the process is so empowering.”
