Marvin Manassa spent four days in Indianapolis at the National Scouting Comb9ne participating in a variety of different tests and drills, presenting his talent for scouts and working towards a chance to play professionally.

“It was a great experience,” Manassa said. “I got to showcase my skills and gain great advice from coaches and scouts.”

Manassa started the combine by taking basic measurements including height, weight, hand size, and wingspan. Marvin explained that all of these measurements are crucial for scouts to see, as each measurement can be an advantage or disadvantage.

Following measurements, Manassa hopped right into the action, testing in the forty-yard dash, vertical jump, bench press, and many more. The highlight of the testing was Manassa jumping out of the stadium with a 37.5-inch vertical jump and 118.5-inch broad jump. These scores landed him amongst the top ten in each category.

As a defensive back, Manassa then competed in a series of one-on-one drills and 7 vs. 7 games. A one-on-one drill consists of two players, a wide receiver on the offense and a defensive back guarding. The receiver breaks for a route while the defensive back has to guard him. Marvin excelled in this only allowing one catch throughout the entire drill.

Finally, the All-Star game. Manassa was one of only a handful of players to be selected for the game where a full football game was played. Marvin had three tackles in the game as well as a pass broken-up contributing to a 20-14 victory for Stevenson’s own.

The next step for Manassa? Still undecided, but he is excited to see where this experience at the combine leads him. In the past couple of years, Stevenson football has had players like Mario Mcintyre and Cory Jones go to play overseas in European leagues.

The world of football is growing and whether it is the NFL or a different professional football league, Marvin Manassa is ready to make his mark.
