For students pursuing a master’s degree at Stevenson in the near future, the School of Graduate and Professional Studies (GPS) is the beginning of that journey, offering eight master’s programs as well as options for adult undergraduate programs. Many of these graduate degrees can be completed within 18-24 months.
A bachelor’s-to-master’s program is available for students who can earn their bachelors and master’s degrees simultaneously in a shorter time frame. Students are eligible to apply in the first semester of their junior year after completing 60 credits, while 75 credits are required prior to taking graduate classes. A GPA cumulative of 3.0 or above is also mandatory.
Amanda Courter, a senior enrollment counselor for GPS Admissions, says there are no admission exams required before enrollment in a master’s program. She adds that after one master’s program is completed, students are able to apply and earn a degree in another program.
A degree in business and technology management is offered in eight-week sessions. Courses are offered both on-campus and online. Students have the option of selecting between two tracks of study based on their career aspirations: emerging technology and innovative leadership.
A communication studies program began in fall 2015 and is designed for students who want to become effective communicators for professional and personal advancement. The goal is to provide students with the ability to translate fundamentals of communication into real-world situations and practice those skills when creating solutions to conflicts.
The cyber forensics program is for students who have a bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years of work experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field and five years of experience in an unrelated field. This program provides an advanced education for experienced information technology professionals interested in the analysis of forensic evidence.
The forensic science program is geared toward working professionals who are interested in instrumentation, technology and pertinent law used to collect evidence for presentation in a court of law. A completion of a bachelor’s degree in natural science from an accredited institution is one of the main requirements.
The forensic studies program is designed for those who want to be forensic experts in a specialized field including forensic accounting, investigations or computer forensics. Students can select from five tracks of study based on their personal interests and career aspirations. The tracks include accounting, computer forensics, criminalistics, interdisciplinary and investigations.
The healthcare management program provides opportunities for students to participate in interdisciplinary, team-based activities. Courses are taught by healthcare managers who combine theory with expertise. Students can select from two concentrations: quality management and patient safety or project management in healthcare.
The nursing program can be completed online for registered nurses with a bachelor’s degree in nursing who want to earn their master’s degree. Students can choose from three concentrations: nursing education, nursing leadership/management or population-based care coordination.
The teaching program is created for math and science baccalaureate degree graduates who want to teach and inspire others to learn. In the program, students have the opportunity for field experience in order to connect theory with practice.
