The fall season is making its way into Maryland with its falling leaves, cool breezes, and many coming local festivities.
A wide variety of local seasonal attractions listed below are sure to appeal to all ages and interests.
Fall Harvest Days
The Carroll County Farm Museum is hosting its 50th annual Fall Harvest Days. This fall event is taking place Oct. 15 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Oct. 16 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Carroll County Farm Museum, located on 500 S. Center St. in Westminster, Md. The admission is free in celebration of its 50th year holding this fall activity. Fall Harvest Days offer many traditional fall activities such as wagon rides, pumpkin painting, scarecrow making, old fashioned games, apple butter making, a costume parade and much more. Along with these events, there is also live entertainment, and country food and craft sales are available. Hereford Fall Festival
The Hereford Volunteer Fire Company is also holding its 17th annual Hereford Fall Festival from October 15 – 16 beginning at 10 a.m. The Hereford Fall Festival is located at 200 Mt. Carmel Road with free parking. This festival offers a wide variety of events and attractions for all ages, including chain saw and wood carving, mechanical bull rides, monster truck rides, a moon bounce, helicopter rides, arts and crafts, face painting, pony rides, live music, games and much more. For the adults, there is an option to taste different fine wines from local wineries. Ticket prices vary from $10 for wine tasters and $5 for non-tasters.
Reisterstown Spooktacular
The local Reisterstown Spooktacular held on Oct. 29 at 227 Main St. in Reisterstown is a free, kid-friendly festivity. This event lasts from 10 a.m.to 4 p.m. and includes trick or treating, spooky stories, games, crafts and a costume contest with prizes. The costume contest registration takes place at 10 A.M. in the parking lot for those who would like to participate. The Main Street Trick-or-Treat will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Partakers are encouraged to stay around and “Shop, Stop, Stroll & Dine” from the end of trick or treating until 4 p.m. For any additional questions visit Reisterstown.com.
Trunk ‘r’ Treat
The second annual Trunk ‘r’ Treat event is happening on Oct. 29 from 5-8 p.m. at 915 Milford Mill Road. This family friendly event allows kids to enjoy candy and treats while parents can participate in a car decorating contest. Families are asked to lending a hand by contributing to the filling of a car trunk with donated canned goods for the Night of Peace Family Shelter. At the end of the night, all participants are welcome to stay for an outdoor movie with popcorn and apple cider.
Maryland Sunrise Farm
Maryland Sunrise Farm is a 570-acre real working farm that invites visitors for seasonal events.
Located at 100 Dairy Lane in Gambrills, Md., the farm’s fall season lasts from Sept. 24 to Oct. 30 and is open weekends, Saturday 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Maryland Sunrise Farm designates eight acres to fall festivities and entertainment for visitors. Within these acres are a corn maze, pedal karts, a playhouse, sandbox, corn hole, pony rides and much more. Admission includes adults (13 years +) $12, military ID $10, groups of 10 or more $9; seniors (65+) and children (3- 12) $6 and kids younger than 2 with families are free.
Melinda’s Haunted Woods
Melinda’s Haunted Woods, located at 67 Main St., Reisterstown, is a haunted attraction for teens and adults looking to participate in a frightening night. Melinda’s Haunted Woods is seven acres of live actors and actresses portraying Melinda the witch and other monsters. A new addition to this spectacle is zombie laser tag, which involves two teams fighting against the actor Zombies. The event is open every Friday and Saturday night from 8-10 p.m. from Oct. 7-31.
