Mustang Activities and Programming (MAP) will host Stevenson University’s annual Fall Carnival on Oct. 6 in the apartment quad on campus.
According to Jessica Lewis, sophomore program director for MAP who is overseeing the festivities, the event will contain several entertaining activities including but not limited: to a zip-line, an inflatable obstacle course, face-painting, a balloon artist, spray-painted hats and more.
The carnival will include vendors like Entertainment Avenue who will provide the zip-line and an inflatable obstacle course, while All About Fun Productions will provide the face painting and balloon artist. Stevenson’s Reserve Officers` Training Corps (ROTC) will also bring their game truck which will include corn hole, a basketball and football toss and a fitness challenge. Stevenson’s Wild Stang Radio will serve as the DJ of the event.
Lewis is most excited about the carnival’s inclusion of a zip-line as well as this year’s addition of airbrushed hats instead of the tie-dyed T-shirts from the previous year. Lewis says that “if it rains, we will have to move [the carnival] inside.”
According to Jenna D’Onza, assistant director of Student Activities, if there is inclement weather, the event will not be cancelled but instead will be moved to the Rockland banquet hall. D’Onza said that MAP will inform students 48 hours in advance to give them an update on whether the event will be moved.
D’Onza and Lewis believe that the carnival is an exciting way to kick off 2017’s fun-filled Staycation weekend. President Elliot Hirshman is encouraging students to stay on campus during this weekend to participate in all of the back-to-back events. As for now, the MAP team is moving forward with planning the event, knowing that rain or shine, there will be plenty of fun at this year’s carnival.
