Don’t be fooled by the giant six-tier chocolate fountain that faces you as you walk in; Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet offers more than sweet endings. The generous menu presents multiple options including seafood, Chinese and American food, sushi and the popular hibachi grill station.
Unlike traditional restaurants, customers must pay first. Food prices are fairly affordable, starting at $12 and increasing according to food and drink choices. Customers then enter the dining area and order their drinks, choosing from a variety of Coke products, teas and lemonades. The hostess then seats customers at booths or tables where a friendly and welcoming waitstaff greets them.
Food options are diverse and located at 11 different stations. The restaurant offers a section consisting of Chinese food, as well as classic American food items including pizza, mashed potatoes, fried chicken and macaroni and cheese. Next to the dessert station is a salad bar, which seems like a very odd placement.
The restaurant also serves seafood dishes including shrimp and fish, and after 3 p.m., customers can order crabs and mussels. In the back of the restaurant, a traditional Japanese chef makes fresh sushi by hand. There are a variety of sushi options including Spicy Tuna Roll, California Roll, Maki and Sashimi.
After dinner, customers can visit the chocolate fountain to dip either strawberries or marshmallows for dessert, or choose from a dessert list.
The main attraction in this restaurant, however, is the wide hibachi grill station in the back, next to the sushi section. At the hibachi grill, customers can customize their meals that the chef cooks on the grill as they watch. Dishes of rice, noodles, eggs, shrimp, crab, chicken, steak, pork, and a variety of vegetables, such as broccoli, mung bean sprouts, carrots and onions are available.
After customers choose their food options, the chef asks if they want to add a spicy, garlic, teriyaki, or soy sauce to their dishes. After approximately six minutes of cooking, the chef sets the order on the counter and rings the bell when the food is ready. Because of the endless food combinations, the hibachi grill station is the most popular section of the restaurant. Lines form quickly, and customers can load their plates with food that is customized for their tastes.
Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet is located at 8606 B Liberty Road in Randallstown, Md., about 15 minutes from the Owings Mills campus. Operating hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday through Saturday. The food is delicious, especially the hibachi station, but the many food options are what make the restaurant unique.
