Don’t wait until tomorrow, you can build your brand today! Stevenson University has a new Marketing Connections Club that’s helping students build their personal and professional networks while they are still in college. The club is already hosting events this semester, and many more are still to come.
Established in early 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Marketing and Connections club had a difficult time getting members and recognition. However, the establishment of a strong foundation has carried them through the tough time. The club has grown to twenty active members who meet every other Wednesday night. Meetings are held in the Brown School of Business, room 302, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Marketing Connections Club has the intention of establishing professional networks that bring students and business people together. Marketing Connections Club wants professionals from different industries to talk to students about the branding strategies they employ for their vertical markets.
Morgan Sauer, president of the Marketing Connections Club, said that the goal of the club is to “include all majors, specifically ones wanting to grow their personal and professional brand,” She continued on stating, “We give tips about branding on LinkedIn, Facebook and how important it is to connect on these platforms.”
Marketing Connections Club will have resume building workshops, mock interviews, and give tips on the importance of branding. Alex Mason, club secretary says “Even though the name may suggest this is a club for only marketing/business majors, it’s a club made for everyone looking to learn how to build up not just other brands but their own personal brand as well. Since you can find marketing in every type of industry, learning how to market yourself and network is a skill everyone can benefit from, and we help provide just that at Marketing Connections.”
The club is fitting for all students who are interested in entrepreneurship or promoting themselves and wanting to gain more followers. Mason says he looks forward to “The marketing related games we play during some of our club meetings.”
The club is very active and has already hosted several events this semester and more are still to come.
On Oct. 20, the club hosted a panel of marketing executives who spoke about strategy and implementation of messaging, strategy, and campaigning.
On November 3, the club’s fundraiser at Jose Tequilas, will raise funds for future events. A mock interview and resume building night is set for November 17 and will include Career Connections. The goal of the event is to help students with their employment skills. For the holidays, and there’s a white elephant gift exchange that will take place on December 1 to welcome the holiday season and usher in the end of the semester.
