CALLING ALL POETS

The Villager has partnered with The Greenspring Review, Student Activities, Arts Alive, and The English Department to host VERSES

Poetry is produced in many different forms, and whether it be haiku, free verse, or prose, each author deserves to have their voice heard. College writers often struggle to have their work published or even acknowledged by their peers, so Stevenson University’s Greenspring Review has provided a solution.

On April 25, 2023, The Greenspring Review – partnered with Arts Alive, Student Activities, The English Department, and The Villager – will be hosting their second annual VERSES Poetry Competition for students to perform their work and to have the most captivating pieces of the evening rewarded and celebrated. Students must sign up and submit pieces by Sunday, April 16, and the top three winners will receive prizes to commend their performances. The first-place winner will receive a $100 Amazon gift card, the second-place winner will receive a $75 Amazon gift card, and the third-place winner will receive a $50 Amazon gift card.

There are no penalties for losing this competition, so all writers should submit a piece they would like to share. The event will be held on in the Claire Moore Room starting at 6 p.m. If you or a friend Have some pieces you would like to be heard, please feel free to join us for this spectacular event. The audience and judges, hand-picked by the GSR staff, will come together to experience the poetic excellence provided by Stevenson University students, so we ask that all contestants put their best foot forward and share what they produce.

Come ready to compete, we cannot wait to see you all there!
