Men’s lacrosse takes on Eastern for a spot in the MAC Commonwealth championship game

Stevenson men’s lacrosse will host Eastern University again, but this time in a conference tournament semifinal match at Mustang Stadium. With a win, the No. 2-seeded Mustangs will take on either top seed York College or No. 4-seeded Widener in the Middle Atlantic Conference Centennial championship game.

York hosts Widener, also on Wednesday. Both semifinal games start at 7 p.m. The MAC Centennial championship is Friday at the home of the highest-seeded team. The winner of that matchup gets an automatic bid in the NCAA Division III tournament.

Stevenson and Eastern have met before. Two weeks ago, the Eagles came to Owings Mills and got smoked 21-6. However, unlike the previous matchup, where both teams were playing for conference in the regular season, this matchup tomorrow will be fiercer because the stakes are higher.

Third-year defenseman Ryan Quinn.

Wednesday’s game will be the first in a while for starting defender Ryan Quinn, a third-year Stevenson student who received a one-game suspension for punching an Eastern player during the previous matchup between Stevenson and Eastern.

“I punched him because I lost my temper,” Quinn said, adding that he was being verbally abused by the Eastern player despite the Eagles trailing by double-digits throughout the second half.

Quinn earned All-MAC Commonwealth first-team status in 2022 as a second-year player for the Mustangs.
