Night of the Arts, one of Stevenson’s annual events that gathers different types of art from various clubs on campus, will be held in the Rockland banquet hall on Friday, Oct. 28, 2016, at 7 p.m.
The All Natural Acapella Glee club will sponsor the event. Elaina Owens, president of All Natural Acapella Glee club, said that the planning for the Night of the Arts (NOTA for short), began in the spring semester of 2016. Owens said her group wanted to get a head start organizing the event, explaining that the group’s E-board works together to ensure that NOTA is the best that it can be.
Owens hope that from this event will be able to show attendees how diverse the arts are at Stevenson.
The event is open solely to Stevenson University club members to perform a variety of different talents. This year there will be performances by the All Natural Glee club, the Black Student Union Gospel Choir, the Black Student Union Allure Models, Urban Vibe, and others, according to Owens.
Along with these performances, an open mic opportunity allows for poetry, musical solos, musical duets, and comedy performances.
Katherine Paige, captain of Urban Vibe dance team, said that this year would be the fifth time that Urban Vibe is performing at Night of the Arts. The troupe performance will showcase how dance is a vital part of the arts. She hopes that after their performance on Oct. 28, a piece of their art will be left on the stage and the audience will feel the team’s vibe.
The tickets for the event are on sale now. They are free for students and $5 for guests.
