Three Stevenson students host their weekly “Kickoff Radio” show on the radio station Mondays from 6-7 p.m.
“This Wild Stang Radio podcast is for all sports fans and non-sports fans,” said Daniel Williams, a junior business communication major.
The co-host explained that the show offers a different take on things going on around the nation. David Steinwedel is the main host while David Miles accompanies Williams on the show. The conversations focus on football, basketball and, soon, hockey. They have covered popular topics such as Colin Kaepernick taking a knee, the Stanford swimmer scandal and the Superbowl.
“We do stray from time to time, usually about something else like TV shows or make jokes about ourselves. We do a lot of that,” said Steinwedel. He added that their show began with Frankie Reynolds, another sports fan and host, in 2014. Since then they have expanded, adding a variety of guests on the show, and during their “commercial breaks” they play some country and rock music. This includes some Stevenson players and a few coaches as well. Williams added that another goal for Kickoff Radio is to highlight some of the national sports issues and news stories of the week.
Williams said their goal is to get some feedback from their listeners about their talk show. Most of their listeners come from people who eat in Rockland or Pandinis, but there is also a SoundCloud link that people listen to remotely during the time of the show.
