The second annual Food Truck Rally at Stevenson University will be held on Saturday, May 6 from 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. in the School of Business parking lot.
This event will feature a variety of food from several food trucks, live music, balloon and bubble art, face painting and a photo booth.
Sophomore Lauren Novsak attended last year’s Food Truck Rally and said, “The food was awesome last year. I remember getting pulled pork sliders that were probably the best I have ever had.” Novsak also mentioned that the fresh donuts and the pickle stand were other personal favorites from the event.
Additionally, the same band from last year, Brent and Company, will perform during the first two hours of the rally. Novsak said that Brent and Co. were excellent performers and “they really set the tone for the event.”
Following their performance, junior Mark Moody will be the DJ for the remainder of the event.
Senior Kris DeJesus, the president of Mustang Activities and Programming (MAP), said that along with music and entertainment, this year MAP wanted to make sure to get a variety of food options, which is why each truck will feature a different category of food.
A total of seven trucks will be present at the event. Featured at the rally will be Icedgems Cupcakes, The Great Cookie, Grrche Cafe, Corky’s BBQ, Mexican on the Run, Craving Potato Factory, and BricknFire Pizza.
MAP is also including an incentive for students to attend the event. The first 350 students present will get 10 ‘food truck bucks,’ which they will be able to use to buy the food of their choice.
Additionally, the same amount of ‘food truck bucks’ will be available to the first 50 commuters. However, commuters will have to obtain a ‘fast pass’ from The Rock, where they will be able to pass the entry line and exchange the pass for the ‘food truck bucks.’ MAP wanted to make sure that commuters are granted a special opportunity even though they have to drive to attend the event.
The event is open to all who are interested. However, sophomore program director Maya Murphy recommends that students who want to be guaranteed the food of their choice do not wait until the end of the event. The activities featured will be free; however, attendees must pay for their food.
