Stevenson has been named a Best Value School by the U.S. News & World Report for the fifth consecutive year, the university announced Monday. What does this mean for the students who attend SU? The Villager went out to find a few stories. Here they are.
Ashlyn Bray, a student from Alaska, chose Stevenson for a couple of reasons. She wanted to play Women’s Ice Hockey and major in biomedical engineering which Bray said, “it’s not a very easy combination to find in the United States.”
When she came to visit Stevenson, she talked to Dr. Durmowicz. Dr. Durmowicz shared her passion for the sciences and Stevenson itself.
“The faculty and all the staff really support the students here and all their endeavors.” shared that her experience here at Steveson in terms of the faculty and staff has been
Kaylee Kelly, who is a first-year nursing major, came to Stevenson because she liked all the options here at the school to get involved with the community while still having the small campus feel to it. Kelly also mentioned how on open house day, and the first day of classes, everyone was nice and welcoming. Kelly said “Yes, I do consider Stevenson a best value school because… it’s so positive, everyone here is friendly, and I am still so happy with my decision and couldn’t imagine myself anywhere else”
Maddie Silverman, who is a second year, came from Massachusetts to Stevenson. She was interested in their Ice Hockey program and mentioned how great the facilities were, especially on the Owings Mills North campus. It was a large contributor on why she chose SU; she never experienced something with such great facilities before.
Silverman shared that she feels connected to all her professors, especially Dr. Carter because she is one of the best professors she has ever had in her life. Silverman commented Stevenson goes above and beyond besides the other schools I looked at… There’s a really good community here, I love all the people I have met, and it’s definitely worth it”
Overall, the students I interviewed all seemed to rave about how great the professors and teachers here at Stevenson are.
With all the opportunities Stevenson provides along with resourceful facilities and stellar performance from professors, it is no surprise that SU is ranked as a Best Value School for another year in a row.
