Stevenson University will hold its sixth annual Craft Expo and inaugural Food Truck Rally event Saturday, April 9. This event will help raise money for the class of 2016’s graduation week events.
The Craft Expo will be located indoors on the second floor of the Rockland Center. This event is open to the public and will take place between 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Stevenson students may show their student ID for free admission and the cost for guests is $5.
According to Maumi Chatterton, the assistant to the vice president for student affairs, this year’s Craft Expo event will incorporate local Baltimore artists and craftsmen. Forty unique local vendors who design and hand make their own products will be featured.
These vendors will offer the public a wide variety of crafts including jewelry, handmade t-shirts, henna art, decorations, purses and bags, beauty supplies, and much more.
To help make this event more exciting, Chatterton explained that there will be a raffle drawing every 15 minutes with a prize for each winner. Each vendor is donating a product to the raffle, this means there will be approximately 40 prizes for which individuals may have a chance to win.
Stevenson University’s Student Government Association (SGA) and Mustang Activities and Programming (MAP) are the organizations behind the Food Truck Rally event. Working together, they have created an event that welcomes everyone in the Baltimore community for a “taste of the city.”
The food trucks will be located outside in the School of Business parking lot between 11a.m.-2p.m. A national touring band, Brent and Co., will be featured, along with other family fun entertainment such as face painting and balloon art.
Eight food trucks will participate in the rally, whose rare names match their unique food. The list of the trucks are The Snack Shack Truck, The Jolly Pig, Bricknfire Pizza, Get Food Go, The Cow, Icedgems Baking, Glazey Day Donuts, and DC Dills. The first 350 students to arrive will receive 13 vouchers, each worth $1, that goes towards the cost of food.
The Craft Expo and Food Truck Rally is an event that benefits all aspects of the community. Not only does this event support Stevenson University seniors, but it also spotlights local artists and businesses.
