A few weeks ago, Kylie Jenner released the long-awaited “Burgundy Palette.” Fans and beauty lovers alike sprinted to their computers to try and get their hands on it. With the first few launches, the palette sold out within seconds.
If you were lucky enough to get your hands on it, the first thing you did was see if it was really worth all of the hype. The palette contains nine shades: six matte, two metallic, and one satin. However, the truth to its worth is in the pigment and coverage of each shade.
If you have any knowledge about pigmentation in makeup, you’d know red shades aren’t the easiest to work with. So the shades “Burgundy” and “Dubai,” a matte and metallic burgundy respectively, have to be layered a bit more than the others. Nonetheless, the shades still give off a beautiful finish and a smooth texture as Kylie promised.
The rest of the shades, however, are very build-able and require only about one to two strokes for medium coverage. Matte shades are often more popular in the autumn, so Kylie hit the perfect time to market this palette to beauty lovers around the world.
As for the size of each shadow, they’re just as big as the ones from Makeup Geek or M.A.C. Some consumers have said they’d have less of a problem spending that much money ($42) if the palette came with a mirror. Yes, it is inconvenient not to have a mirror within the palette, but the palette would have cost more if there were a mirror.
The palette is very comparable to the Anastasia Beverly Hills (ABH) Modern Renaissance palette which also has a lot of burgundy and deep orange tones. However, the brown shades are much cooler in the Kylie Cosmetics Burgundy Palette. So if you are looking for warmer shades, the ABH palette might be a better alternative.
In all, this palette is just as great as one from any other beauty retailer. It also has all of the shades one could need for the perfect fall eye look. If you want to get your hands on it, you can find it at Kylie Cosmetics.
