Summer 2021 is almost here, and with it comes a renewed optimism among Americans that, hopefully, the worst days of the COVID-19 pandemic are over. But with this optimism, there is an added pressure to “be extra-ready” with one’s “summer body” this year, which wills a goal arguably tougher than in years past thanks to a year of quarantine.
Here’s what Stevenson University has to offer its community to achieve that coveted look, which, first and foremost, should be contextualized.
A “summer body” (or “beach body”) isn’t a ripped torso, cellulite-free thighs and glutes of steel; it is a body you can feel comfortable in and most proud of when you step out on that beach. The prospect of attaining this look, whatever it might be, may seem hard at first, but a good workout paired with consistency and a healthy diet will surely render positive results.
Tyler Didra, a Stevenson University Fitness Instructor, emphasized the importance of practicality first. “To actually make a goal happen, it needs to be realistic,” she said, before adding that, to attain physical results, it’s crucial to set specific goals within an arranged time frame. Sticking to this routine is a must, as well.
Mustangs are in luck when it comes to accessing diverse fitness options, both on-campus or from home. Stevenson’s Campus Recreation offers workout courses that include, but are not limited to:
- Butts N’ Guts
- BOSU Burn
- Line Dancing
For Mustangs preferring to work out from home, there are various routines to choose from on SU’s Campus Rec’s YouTube channel and Instagram, including “Four-Minute Full-Body HIIT Workouts” and “10-Minute Back-Strengthening Workouts.”
Essentially, there’s “something for everyone,” Didra said. An added bonus to joining SU Campus Rec’s fitness courses and clubs, added Didra, is that they create community and an environment where students can all work toward their individual goals with the support from other students trying to do the same thing.
