It was a dominant week for Stevenson University Athletics as several Mustang programs posted impressive wins, key conference victories, and standout individual performances across the board.

Women’s Volleyball Remains Perfect in Conference

The Stevenson women’s volleyball team continues to assert itself as a MAC Commonwealth force, sweeping York in straight sets to stay unbeaten in league play. The Mustangs showcased dominance at the net and control in serve receive, bouncing back after a tough tri-match over the weekend. Despite competitive efforts, Stevenson fell to Mary Washington and William Paterson in a pair of matches that tested their depth and resilience. Still, the team responded with poise and purpose, quickly returning to winning form in conference action.

Women’s Soccer Finds Rhythm with a Key Win and Stalemates

Women’s soccer had a balanced week, battling Salisbury and Neumann to scoreless draws while earning a vital MAC Commonwealth victory over Alvernia. In that win, Mayfield-Rice netted the game-winner in a 1-0 decision that added momentum to the Mustangs’ playoff hopes. Defensively, Stevenson was consistent throughout the stretch, posting multiple clean sheets thanks to sharp goalkeeper play and disciplined back-line positioning.

Men’s Soccer Opens Conference Play with Statement Win

Stevenson men’s soccer opened MAC Commonwealth play in dominant fashion, shutting out Alvernia 2-0. The Mustangs controlled possession throughout the match and delivered a complete performance on both ends of the field. The victory set the tone for their conference campaign and highlighted the team’s evolving chemistry.

Field Hockey Upsets No. 9 Stevens, Extends Win Streak

It was a monumental week for field hockey, beginning with a 5-0 shutout over Arcadia where Isabella Catalano netted a hat trick in a commanding performance. The momentum carried into a thrilling upset of ninth-ranked Stevens, as the 25th-ranked Mustangs pulled off a dramatic 3-2 overtime win. Kailen Hibshman delivered the golden goal in the 68th minute, capping off a team effort that included 15 total shots and key stops from the defense and goalkeeper unit. The pair of wins boosted Stevenson’s national standing and solidified their status as a championship contender.

Swimming Teams Sweep Tri-Meets

Both men’s and women’s swimming teams opened their seasons in dominant fashion, sweeping Hood and Goucher in respective tri-meets. The Mustangs showed well across multiple events, setting strong early-season benchmarks. From sprint relays to distance freestyle, Stevenson swimmers impressed with depth and technical execution, setting the stage for a promising year in the pool.

Beach Volleyball Gains Experience at Liberty Invitational

Men’s beach volleyball wrapped up a competitive weekend at the Liberty Invitational, going 1-3 with strong showings from multiple pairs. The Mustangs earned a sweep over Wingate and picked up a three-set win against host Liberty. Despite setbacks against Erskine and Webber International, the event served as a valuable early-season measuring stick as Stevenson builds chemistry and cohesion in the sand.

Mustangs Make Noise on the Greens

Men’s and women’s golf also made headlines, with Matt Slivosky tying for 11th place at the Alvernia Fall Invitational after shooting a six-over-par 78. The Stevenson “B” squad placed 10th in the field. Meanwhile, the women’s team turned in a stellar showing at the Golden Oaks Shootout, finishing second overall thanks to balanced scoring across the lineup and strategic course management.
