It was another action-packed weekend for Stevenson University Athletics, as Mustang teams delivered standout performances across multiple sports — from the sand and turf to the field, court and course.

Men’s Beach Volleyball Dominates Stevenson Invitational

The Stevenson men’s beach volleyball team (7-4) turned in an impressive showing at the Stevenson Invitational, going a combined 3-0 across two days of competition on Mustang Beach.

On Friday, the Mustangs opened play with a 4-1 victory over Tusculum, highlighted by a gritty three-set win from Jacob Sledz and Jackson Bones (21-19, 17-21, 16-14) and strong performances from Ryan Harrington and Kevin Kouchoukos at No. 2, as well as JD Sarmuksnis and Adam DeRubertis at No. 5.

The team carried that momentum into Saturday, sweeping both Wingate and Liberty by 5-0 margins while celebrating their senior class. RC Getteau and Tanner Laukhuff set the tone at the top flight with back-to-back wins, while Kouchoukos/Harrington, Sledz/Bones, Charles Signa/Finnegan Keon, and Sarmuksnis/DeRubertis all swept their matches in straight sets. In exhibition play, Ben Grove and Daniel Sledz added two more strong outings.
With the Invitational in the books, the Mustangs now turn their focus to the AVCA Men’s Beach Volleyball National Tournament (Nov. 7–9, Huntsville, Ala.).

Under the bright lights of Mustang Stadium, the Stevenson football team battled wire-to-wire in a 35–28 loss to King’s (Pa.), showcasing one of its most explosive offensive performances of the season.
Quarterback Jordan Adams threw for 300 yards and four touchdowns, connecting with Dillon Johnson (8 rec., 87 yds, TD), Stephen Tatum (6 rec., 79 yds, TD), Ryan McClain (3 rec., 74 yds, TD), and Anthony Rodriguez (21-yd TD). Louis Clouser anchored the ground game with 74 rushing yards.

After falling behind early, the Mustangs responded with three first-half touchdowns and a third-quarter strike to Rodriguez to regain the lead, but King’s rallied late with two fourth-quarter scores. Defensively, Dominick Marino led with eight tackles, Victor Achoronye added 1.5 sacks, and Daryus Henderson recorded an interception.

Men’s Soccer Battles to Conference Draw

The Stevenson men’s soccer team (6-4-2, 1-0-1 MACC) earned a 1-1 draw against Albright, extending its unbeaten start in conference play.
After a scoreless first half, the Lions struck first in the 54th minute, but Ellis Amo buried a penalty kick in the 81st to equalize. Stevenson outshot Albright 15-5 (7-3 on goal), with Amo, Ryan Miller, and Gianfranco Vitella each tallying three shots. Nolen Olson-Warwick made two saves in goal.

No. 25 Field Hockey Opens Conference Play with Win

The No. 25 Stevenson field hockey team (12-1, 1-0 MACC) started conference play strong, defeating Widener 2-1 at Mustang Stadium.
Lauren Tobin opened the scoring in the 10th minute, while Hailey Mertz added another in the 33rd off an assist from Kailen Hibshman. Despite a late Widener goal, the Mustangs held firm, outshooting the Pride 17-3 (7-2 on goal). Jordan Vradenburgh picked up the win in net with one save.

Women’s Soccer Stays Perfect in MAC Play

The Stevenson women’s soccer team (6-2-5, 2-0 MACC) blanked Albright 2-0 for its second straight conference victory.
Isabella Pecunes scored twice—once in the 19th minute off an assist from Karly Sheahan, and again in the 40th—to lead the Mustangs to victory. Despite being outshot 12-11, Stevenson held a 10-4 edge in shots on goal. Goalkeeper Isabella Serano made four saves to secure the clean sheet.

Women’s Volleyball Competes Hard at Salisbury Quad-Match

The Stevenson women’s volleyball team showed depth and determination at the Salisbury Quad-Match, earning a 3-1 win over Regent before narrowly falling to Virginia Wesleyan (3-0) and host Salisbury (3-2).

Against Regent, the Mustangs were dominant, led by Declyn Tooze’s remarkable serving runs and Logan Burge, Sydney Salazar, and Rachel Lenz at the net. Stevenson hit .250 in the third set and held Regent to a negative hitting percentage in the opener. Tooze’s four straight aces in the fourth sealed the 25–9 clincher.

In the five-set battle against Salisbury, Giulia Viglietta led with six first-set kills, Lenz and Emma Shaffer added strong blocking presence, and Foose sparked serving runs throughout. Despite multiple lead changes and an early 2–1 match lead, Salisbury edged out a 15–12 win in the deciding set.

On the course, Ryan Thomas led the Stevenson men’s golf team with a two-over-par 74 in the final round of the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic, improving his opening round by two strokes to finish +6 overall.
