An upcoming Hershey Park trip on Oct. 28  from noon to midnight will offer students a family-friendly event to kick off the Halloween season. Tickets for the “Hershey Park in the Dark” trip went on sale on Oct. 1.

Students in Mustang Activities and Programming (MAP) planned the trip.

“We surveyed students at the end of last year and also surveyed the incoming freshmen in the summer to see which amusement park they would like to attend. It was a tie between Kings Dominion and Hershey, so we looked at the price, and Hershey gave students the opportunity to stay later because of the short distance and have a meal ticket to use,” said Hope Miller, director of student activities.

Miller said she is excited to see the MAP students be so proud of their event, and wants to make sure Stevenson students have a good time on the trip.

A lot of planning went into this trip, she said, including contacting Hershey Park to book the tickets, reserving buses and paying vendors. After it was planned and had gone through the budget exercise, the MAP team had to advertise the trip in a variety of ways.

“I am really excited to ride the roller coasters on the trip, as well as hanging out with friends and enjoying everything that Hershey Park has to offer,” said Alex Henry, one student already planning on attending the trip.

“Hershey Park in the Dark” includes a variety of events in the one price admission: Hershey’s Trick or Treat Adventure, Dark Rides and Creatures of the Night. Several shows will also be running during the event, including “Screaming Mummies.”

Students interested in the trip should stop by The Rock to sign up and get their tickets.
