The season of fall is finally here! For many, that means going to pumpkin patches, warming up with autumn drinks, taking trendy Instagram pictures and (almost) everyone’s favorite holiday, Halloween.

Although Halloween is typically a holiday for children, that doesn’t mean adults can’t dress up too; however, trying to find a cool costume on a college budget can be hard. Sometimes thinking outside the box and getting creative can produce unique and trendy costumes that anyone can pull off this Halloween.

First on the list is a classic: Boo from the movie “Monsters, Inc.” For this costume you will need purple leggings, a pink shirt, white shoes and pink hair ties. All of these items can be purchased inexpensively at places such as Walmart or Target.

Just about everyone is familiar with the movie “Mean Girls.” There are a few easy character costumes that can be recreated from the film.  For the first one, take a mini skirt, heels and a tank top. Cut holes in the chest area of the tank top — Regina George coming through. To look like the character Damien, you will need a blue hoodie, sunglasses and a sign that says “She doesn’t even go here!” Another option is to dress in army pants and flip flops to look like Cady Heron.

Another costume idea is also a popular icon that everyone should recognize, Jake from State Farm. The outfit includes a red polo shirt, a name tag, a headset and khakis, of course.

For a simple but fun take on a Halloween costume, why not go as a bubblegum machine? You will need red pants or a red tutu, a white t-shirt, pom pom balls and string or tape. Glue the pom poms onto the shirt with a hot glue gun, and then make a sign that says “25₵” and either tape it on the shirt or take string and wear it around your neck.

A final costume idea that is super simple is the Brawny man from Brawny® paper towels. This costume only requires three items: a red checkered shirt, blue jeans and a roll of Brawny® paper towels.

These costumes will not only make you look creative, but they will save your wallet. Each of them is very simple and quick to create. Go out and show your friends how to look stylish while saving money, and have a happy Halloween.
