Liberty Mountain Resort, more commonly known as Ski Liberty, is a great place to take a day or weekend trip for a ski outing. The resort is located in Pennsylvania just over the Maryland line, at 78 Country Club Trail in Fairfield, Pa.

From Stevenson University, it would take about 75 minutes to get to the resort. The location is an easy commute from Baltimore, Washington and Annapolis.

The resort sits at the bottom of snow-covered mountains, with a beautiful view from the top. There is a roundabout in front of the ski lodge, which makes it easy for drop offs and pick ups, and the ski lodge is close to the lifts for easy access.

Hourly rates begin at $55, which is slightly less than, or comparable to, other resorts in this general area. For those who do not have their own equipment, ski rentals and snowboard rentals are available. The cost to rent skis is $46 and the cost to rent a snowboard is $51.

Although Liberty is not as big as some of the neighboring resorts, it offers a diverse terrain of trails. This is very beneficial because the lifts and trails are not as crowded, making the overall experience better. Along with a variety of slopes, Liberty provides a terrain park for experienced snowboarders and skiers. Other resorts trail into one basin, but Liberty offers a backside of the mountain, almost like two different resorts in one.

Liberty offers a large lodge with big windows and a fireplace setting for eating and gathering, but also offers food on the backside of the mountain, as well. There are a variety of different foods for healthy eaters and comfort food junkies alike. Located in the ski lodge is a store that sells snow clothing and equipment. Behind the lodge are hotels and condos for nightly stays, and there are also many hotels close to the resort.

Customer service is very accommodating; the staff allowed me to switch my snowboard rental to a ski rental without any extra cost. The resort is also very group friendly by offering discounted prices. Employees work at the bottom and top of the lifts to make sure everyone gets on safely and correctly. These employees are friendly and make all guests feel welcome and safe.

For beginners, Liberty offers ski and snowboard lessons, along with a magic carpet for those not yet ready to get on a lift. Parents with young children have the option to put their children in daycare or ski school while they enjoy the slopes.

Liberty is not just for skiing and snowboarding. The resort also has snow tubing and outside entrainment on the weekends, such as concerts and barbecues. Liberty Mountain Resort is an adventure that caters to all groups and is a quick fix for any snow bunny looking to enjoy all winter has to offer.
