The Stevenson athletics department has scheduled an event-filled week for the Mustangs’ Homecoming week, Oct. 13-19.

In the beginning of the week, the undefeated women’s volleyball team will play Widener University on Oct. 15 and then Johns Hopkins University on Oct. 17. Both matches will be on the Mustangs’ home court in the Owings Mills gymnasium, according to gomustangsports.com.

The morning of Oct. 18 will be the Stevenson University Golf Open. The Piney Branch Golf Course will provide alumni, parents, students, friends, and more with an 18-hole course, along with various contests such as a hole-in-one, a longest drive, and a closest to the pin contest, according to the Stevenson University website. After the conclusion of the golf tournament, there will be a luncheon and open bar for participants. On the evening of Oct. 18 at 7 p.m., the women’s soccer team will face Lycoming College in a Middle Atlantic Commonwealth Conference (MAC) competition in Mustang Stadium.

While the soccer game is going on, the Dick Watts Athletics Hall of Fame Banquet will be held from 6-9 p.m. in the Owings Mills gymnasium. This banquet will honor and induct eight athletes, one team, and Stevenson’s current and only Athletic Director, Brett Adams.

The induction class this year is special because it celebrates Stevenson’s 25th anniversary of NCAA sports, according to Adams. The director said that he is very thankful for his induction and is excited that it occurs in a year that means so much to the athletics program and to the university. Saturday, Oct. 19, is the most eventful day, including a tailgate opportunity and three home sporting events. The Homecoming tailgate is located at the Owings Mills North site on the south parking lot, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., according to the Stevenson University website. There is limited parking and space, which will be handled on a first-come, first-serve basis starting at 9:30 a.m., according to the university website. For those who want to attend the tailgate but do not have a parking spot, overflow parking will be available on the Owings Mills campus; once there, people should walk across the Dell Family Pathway to get to the tailgate location.

Once the tailgate concludes at 12:30, fans attending the game should cross the Dell Family pathway and follow the pathway around to the front of Mustang Stadium. This is where they will enter for the Homecoming football game that begins at 1 p.m. against Stevenson’s MAC conference rival Albright College. Before attending the game, Stevenson students can get their free football game ticket at the Rock, while fans can purchase their ticket at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/stevenson-football-2019-tickets-65806331509.

After the football game, the men’s soccer team will play at Mustang Stadium in a conference contest against Lycoming College at 5 p.m., according to gomustangsports.com. The field hockey team will follow, playing another conference opponent, Lebanon Valley College, at 7:30 p.m., according to gomustangsports.com.
