Stevenson COVID-19 Major Update: Class Cancellations

Dear Stevenson Students, Faculty, and Staff:

I am writing on behalf of our senior leadership to provide an important update on COVID-19. The COVID-19 virus continues to affect many parts of the world and our nation. While there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 at Stevenson, we have made the following decisions based on advice from public health agencies and higher education organizations in our region.

Stevenson University will be transitioning to remote instruction for the week following Spring Break, March 23-27.

To help our faculty, staff and students prepare for this transition, the university is canceling in-person, face-to-face classes for the remainder of this week (March 11-13). I wish to express special appreciation to our faculty and staff for supporting this transition and for your commitment to student learning.

All students are expected to leave campus by Saturday, March 14, unless they have requested an extension from Residence Life and Housing. Students who wish to remain off campus during the week of March 23-27 may do so and will be able to continue their academic programs remotely. Co-curricular events will be cancelled or postponed for the remainder of this week and through March 28.

The Athletic Department is coordinating with the NCAA and MAC regarding possible postponements of games. Updates will be posted on the GoMustangs website.We will continue to monitor this rapidly changing situation and will provide an update to our community by March 25.

In the meantime, Stevenson will remain open for normal business operations. This includes the Owings Mills, Owings Mills North, and Greenspring campuses. Residence Halls and Dining Services will follow normal calendars during the remainder of this week, Spring Break, and through March 27.

We strongly encourage members of our community to review the self-care and travel guidelines for Stevenson students, faculty, and staff posted on our COVID-19 Information and Updates web page. We encourage you to make social distancing part of your daily routine and limit travel to no more than 50 miles from home per recent guidance from the University of Maryland Medical System.

We also ask students departing campus to take your laptops and other devices for remote learning and your essential belongings, medications, and materials from your student residences in the event we need to restrict access to campus in the future.We have established the email address [email protected] you may send any questions or concerns you have.
