Kenneth Leo Lynch, Jr., 65, of Hampstead, Md., one of Stevenson University’s security team members, passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 15, 2020.

According to David Jordan, Stevenson’s vice president of human resources, Lynch died of his injuries after an accident at his son’s house in Manchester, Md. Despite efforts by staff at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, after a tree limb fell on him, Lynch passed away “in the hospital surrounded by his immediate family. Ken was a part of Stevenson’s family for 18 years and will be missed,” noted Jordan.

Born on May 10, 1954, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Kenneth Leo, Sr., and Carmalette Wolfe Lynch and husband to Sandra Marie Myers Lynch. As a retired Baltimore County Police Detective, Lynch also served as a Security Office II at Stevenson University. According to a March 18 article in the Baltimore Sun, “Det. Robert Reason of the Baltimore County Police Department said Lynch served with the department from 1973 to 2000, serving on patrol and conducting criminal investigations.”

He was a faithful churchgoer who enjoyed spending time with his family, going to yard sales, antiquing, and working at his late brother and sister-in-law’s antique store.

The Stevenson men’s lacrosse team posted their thoughts on Facebook when they heard the news of Lynch’s passing, noting how saddened they were, writing, “Kenny was a fixture at all the men’s lacrosse games and was such a great person to know. Always willing to help out and go the extra mile. He was fair, kind and cared about all the students. He will not be forgotten but remembered as one of the good ones. Our prayers go out to his family! We will dearly miss you, Kenny. Thank you for all you did. It didn’t go unnoticed!”

Many family and friends posted memories of condolences about Mr. Lynch, often referring to his 18 years at Stevenson as a great friend, thoughtful colleague, and good storyteller.

Surviving in addition to his wife are children: Heather Marie Conrad and husband Ed of Manchester, Md., and Kenneth “Tug” L. Lynch, III and wife Jennifer of Manchester, Md., grandchildren: Trenton, Heidi, Holly, Aidan, Landon, Jackson, Gemma, and a brother: John Lynch of Kentucky.
