Guidelines
The Villager’s Blog will accept journalistic-style pieces in the categories of opinions, features, reviews, and personal essays
- Examples of work that The Villager is looking to publish:
- Written pieces that challenge opinions and offer a new perspective on a topic
- Offers insight on tough topics/discussions
- Shines a spotlight on the “undiscovered” – new restaurants, museums, etc.
- Personal essays that may provide insight to a larger topic
- Pieces that spark conversation
- They must adhere to these guidelines else will be automatically rejected from publishing
- 400 word minimum, 1,200 word maximum
- Free from plagiarism, profanity, or offensive language (includes but is not limited to racism, homophobia, and misogyny)
- Work must be fact-checked; any pieces containing information that cannot be verified will be rejected
- Exclusive to The Villager – pieces cannot have appeared in any other publication (online or in print)
- All work is written ethically and aligns with the core values of The Villager
