The Netflix series “Fuller House” premiered on Feb. 26, 2016. The reboot of the classic 80s sitcom “Full House” features much of the same cast as well as some new faces.
The return of the familiar faces including Danny, played by Bob Saget, Uncle Jesse, played by John Stamos and Joey, played by Dave Coulier, brings fans from Full House now to “Fuller House,” offering fans the chance to catch up with their favorite characters.
The Netflix series has a total of 13 episodes and has been picked up for a second season. There have been mixed reviews on the show, but the negativity did not stop fans from wanting another season. The “Fuller House” trailer on YouTube has over 4 million views to date.
The sitcom takes place over 20 years after the original, and the oldest daughter, D.J. Tanner (Candace Cameron Bure), is the head of the house, raising three young boys. Her younger sister Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) and best friend Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber) move in to help raise the boys, as well as Kimmy’s daughter. Guest appearances include the original cast: Saget, Stamos, Coulier, Lori Loughlin, who played Rebecca, and twin boys Nicky and Alex (Blake and Dylan Tuomy-Wilhoit). The absence of youngest daughter Michelle, played by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, is addressed in the first episode, and is mentioned throughout the series.
The show has left audiences with mixed reactions. Most believe it will never be the same as the original, but it adds a modern feel to the family most
people have grown up with. The famous catch phrases, such as “Cut it out,” “How rude!” and “Have mercy!” were included in the new scripts and add familiarity to the show. The new jokes and sense of humor in “Fuller House” may never compare to the original, but the show will still make some viewers laugh.
Fans of the original series will have a lot of expectations for the new characters on the show. Max Fuller, played by Elias Harger, is a new adorable face, but there is still no chance of replacing the endearing humor of Michelle on “Full House.” All three sons were cast appropriately to reflect the three daughters from the original Tanner family.
Even though “Fuller House” can never be “Full House,” which is loved by many, the new show’s tasteful humor and loving moments can still be enjoyed with friends and family.
