Stevenson University’s Howard S. Brown School of Business and Leadership (SOBL) will hold its first-ever poster session on Nov. 30. During the event, students will showcase posters displaying work they have done over the semester. The event will be from 2-4 p.m. in the Rockland Banquet Hall.

Barbara Rowell, chair and professor of accounting, introduced the idea of a poster session to all departments in the SOBL in order to collaborate to display the school’s work. About 38 posters will be displayed from departments including accounting, business administration, law and computer information systems.

Teams from Rowell’s Intermediate Accounting class will display their work analyzing different companies within an industry, including Tesla, General Motors and Harley Davidson. The posters will focus on corporate finances as well as SWOT analyses (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats), displaying what is current in each industry.

International management and consumer behavior students of Takisha Toler, assistant professor in marketing of the business administration department, will also be presenting. The international management class will examine the managerial perspective of business and give presentations that convey insight into an international manager’s handbook. Toler’s consumer behavior students will present work examining different markets segments and methods of market analysis through research.

The session will include a variety of posters and information, as faculty from each department in SOBL will focus on different topics. The goal of the poster session is not only to increase the brand of SOBL among professionals in the community, but also to help students improve their presentation skills and preparation for professional work.

Students will also be able to see the value of their work on a larger scale in the SOBL, and other students may begin to imagine the possible types of work in their futures. Toler believes that business comes in many different forms and exposure to it can only produce good results.

The poster session is open to all and will be an afternoon full of information, food and conversation. For more information, visit the SU Now Portal.
