Rockland Marketplace is a go-to location for Stevenson students to grab a bite to eat on the Owings Mills campus. New items are always in the works for students who dine there.

Coming soon is an espresso machine from which students will be able to enjoy coffee the way they like it. Food service manager for Sodexo, Brian Lechuk, said, “It makes me very happy when we are able to provide the students with the things they want such as the new espresso machine that will be here shortly.”

More high-end dinners for students known as “prime nights” are also in the works. Featuring entrees such as flank steaks and sushi, these meals are always a hit. A monthly calendar will be posted in all residence halls with all upcoming events in store for Rockland.

The Rockland Marketplace ensures variety. During breakfast hours, students can choose from omelets, bagels, waffles, fruit, and a cereal bar. As an additional option, a specialty breakfast meal is included daily. For lunch and dinner students can visit the sandwich and wrap station, the burger station, or the pizza and pasta station. Each station includes an extensive selection of options to customize your meal. Similar to breakfast, specialty meals are also provided.

Those looking for a classier experience have the option to sign up for an “elite dinner.” These offerings include a menu with upgraded meals and a sectioned-off area that includes a set table and servers.

Stevenson’s focus on inclusion and students satisfaction includes the Sodexo staff and facilities. In addition to the vegetarian station, six different halal meals and four different kosher meals have been added. The chefs make sure that there is no cross contamination with the food or the dishes it is distributed on. These meal offerings are listed on the board near Rockland’s front desk.

If students still aren’t satisfied, they have the option to suggest changes.

“Students can pick up a comment card at the front desk in Rockland and leave comments on how they liked the meal, or what they think should be done differently. They also have the ability to suggest new ideas. Students have requested more fruit in the past so now there is more of a variety of fruit,” said Lechuk. He added that students seem to appreciate the fact that they have a voice that is heard by the Rockland staff when it comes to new food.

Executive chef II Kevin Jones said, “I really enjoy when we add new food to the menu and I am able to provide the students with what they want.”

Lechuk added, “Recently, Rockland has started doing Asian-themed dinners, and the students really seem to be enjoying them.”

Rockland’s dining hours on weekdays are 7:30 – 9:30 a.m. for breakfast; continental breakfast from 9:30– 11:00 a.m.; Lunch from 11 a.m. -2 p.m.; continuous dining from 2 – 5 p.m.; dinner from 5-7:30 p.m. On weekends Rockland’s dining hours are from 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. for brunch, and 5 -7 p.m. for dinner.
